23 Jan Make Poverty Unfashionable
From January 23-27, 2017 – the Junior League of Cobb-Marietta will participate in the Little Black Dress Initiative (LBDI), focusing on one goal: Make Poverty Unfashionable.
LBDI is a poverty-awareness and fundraising campaign that underscores the Junior League of Cobb-Marietta’s mission to develop the potential of women — and improve the lives of women and children in the community. Each participant wears the same black dress for five consecutive days to illustrate the effects poverty can have on a woman’s access to resources, confidence, and opportunities. Participants also receive an LBDI button to wear each day, which will help to spread awareness about the campaign…sparking in-person conversations, as well as through the use of social media. Participants are asked to post frequently throughout the week using the hashtag #theLBDI.
You can support the women of the JLCM and their efforts through The LBDI 2017 by making a donation here.
