What is lil’ chickens of marietta?
lil’ chickens of marietta is a public art project whose goal is to enrich cultural activity and positively impact
the Marietta community while also raising money for local non-profit organizations.

Why chickens?
Chickens were chosen because of the unique relationship between the Big Chicken located on Highway
120 and U.S. 41 and the city of Marietta. When giving directions in Marietta the Big Chicken is often used as
a landmark for directions.

Who benefits from lil’ chickens of marietta?
There are many different types of benefits – charitable, financial, and educational. The proceeds from this
fundraiser will go to local non-profit organizations. We expect there will be increased revenue to
businesses as a result of the display.  And, we believe the community benefits from the increased
exposure to the arts and educational outreach (children’s art contests, etc.).

Has this type of art project been done before?
Yes. This type of creative art campaign began in the United States in 1999 with Cows on Parade. Other
cities soon followed suit with their own version… Fish in New Orleans, Pigs in Cincinnati, Lizards in
Orlando, Turtles in Sandy Springs, etc.

Who pays for the chickens?
Businesses, organizations, and individuals sponsor the chickens. There will be three levels of
sponsorship: Golden Egg ($10,000), Silver Egg ($7,000), Bronze Egg ($3,000).

How are the chickens made?
The chickens will be made by Cowpainters. Cowpainters is an art studio that specializes in the design and
fabrication of fiberglass animal forms for public art projects.

How long will the chickens be here?
After the chickens are transformed into unique works of art, they will be displayed in highly visible locations
from fall 2007 to fall 2008. When lil’ chickens of marietta comes to an end, some of the chickens will be
sold at the “Coming Home to Roost” auction.

Where will the chickens be located?
Locator maps will be available during the display period.

How does lil’ chickens of marietta raise money?
Proceeds from the sale of sponsorships will benefit local non-profit organizations. Additionally, in the fall of
2008, the chickens will be sold at the “Coming Home to Roost” auction. One hundred percent of the
proceeds will go to a local non-profit organization of the sponsor’s choice.

Who owns the rights?
lil’ chickens of marietta is the sole owner of all product and designs produced for this exhibit. All rights to
these designs are reserved, and they may not be reproduced or used for commercial purposes without
written permission.
