What is the Purpose of the Junior League?
The Junior League is an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the
potential of its members and improving the community through the effective action and leadership of
trained volunteers.  Its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable.  The Junior League of Cobb
Marietta’s focus is on parenting.  Our vision states that The Junior League of Cobb-Marietta, Inc. is a
catalyst for community change by improving the lives of children and families through the encouragement
and support of effective, quality parenting.

What is a Provisional?
A provisional is a candidate engaged in complying with the requirements for admission to active
membership in the Junior League.  Provisional members are required to complete the one-year
Provisional Training Course and are not eligible to vote or hold office.

What is the Provisional Course?
The Provisional Course is comprised of informational sessions and community projects designed to
familiarize the Provisional member with the Junior League organization, its structure and community
involvement.  The Provisional training/informational sessions begin in August 2007.  As a part of her
training, each Provisional will participate in two community projects.  Each Provisional’s progress in
meeting the requirements of the course and the special project is monitored by an assigned advisor who
is an active member of the Junior League of Cobb-Marietta.  After satisfactory completion of all
requirements of Provisional membership, the Provisional class members are elected to active
membership at the May 2008 General Membership meeting.

Membership Meetings
Attendance at the required general membership meetings and ALL scheduled activities and meetings of
the Provisional Course and Project is MANDATORY.
