| JLCM Statement to the Community, February 13th Thanks to all who registered for today's Mardi Gras 5K, and to the more than 100 who attended the "awards" ceremony. We enjoyed seeing everyone who turned out for a morning of frosty fellowship. As race time neared, Marietta City authorities determined the streets could not be made safe in time for even the delayed start time, and we had no choice but to cancel at the last minute. We deeply regret the inconvenience, but runners' safety was our first concern. The JLCM Board of Directors will meet to discuss future steps. For now, we thank you for your support. Your registration fee will support the League's local charitable partners, including the Center for Family Resources, which serves needy families in our community, including those affected by last fall's flood. As we saw then, there's no predicting the weather. |

| The JLCM Marietta Mardi Gras Run is excited to team up with the Cobb Symphony Noteworthy 5k this Saturday, February 20. 2010. It was with much disappointment that we were unable to proceed with our 5k this past Saturday due to the snow and ice. So we are thrilled to be able to offer our runners another opportunity to run a great 5k and pick up their Marietta Mardi Gras 5k t-shirt! All pre-registered Marietta Mardi Gras 5k runners may run the Noteworthy 5k free of additional charge. Runners who would like the opportunity to be eligible to earn awards, medals, etc and a Noteworthy 5k t-shirt in addition to their Marietta Mardi Gras 5k t-shirt can register online at http://www.cobbsymphony.org/noteworthy.htm. The run begins at 8:30 am with Marietta Mardi Gras runners beginning at a delayed 8: 45am start time. Pre-registered Mardi Gras runners need to check in with the JLCM to obtain a run number and/or pick up their t-shirt. If you have already received a run number and shirt from last week’s run, please bring with you the number you were given so that we may account for you as well. We look forward to seeing you at Marietta High School on Saturday morning! |
