Community Partnerships: Changing Lives & Changing Conditions
The Junior League of Cobb-Marietta plays a major and highly visible role in the community. Partnering with
community organizations that reflect our mission of service to the children and families of Cobb County, the
Junior League continues to be instrumental in identifying and meeting community needs through volunteer
assistance and financial contributions. Current partnerships include:

The Center for Children and Young Adults
The Junior League is proud of its twenty-year partnership with The Center which houses temporary
emergency shelters for abused and neglected children and youth. Volunteers provide unique
programming concentrating on career and life skills. This year, Junior League volunteers will teach
culinary arts training, useful as both life- and career skills.
Communities in Schools
The Georgia Literacy Connection is making a difference in our local elementary schools through increased
reading skills. This program provides one-on-one tutoring with book distribution and reading workshops.
Junior League volunteers coordinate the programs in schools.
The Center for Family Resources
The Center for Family Resources provides comprehensive services and opportunities for individuals,
families and communities to improve their lives and increase their economic capacity by offering education
and employment services, housing services, direct financial services and community building programs.
This year, Junior League volunteers will assist with GED preparation and job readiness training.
Cobb County Youth Museum
Recognizing that the arts are crucial to a child’s education, this program remains a unique educational
opportunity for children in Cobb County. Junior League volunteers serve as docents at the museum.
SafePath Children’s Advocacy Center
SafePath offers a new way of serving abused and neglected children through a comprehensive approach
to services for victims and their families. The Junior League is currently working with SafePath to develop
the “Junior League Junction” room. Volunteers are designing and stocking this room to better help a child’
s needs be met with hope and kindness.
The Friends of the Strand
Through the support of the renovation of The Strand Theater in Marietta, the Junior League, once again, is
at the forefront of supporting the community and its revitalization efforts.
Impact Cobb
Impact Cobb will support several organizations in the community through the volunteer efforts of the
“Impact Cobb” committee. This Junior League committee will work together to target community needs
and provide long-term volunteer services to several organizations throughout the year.
