Communities in Schools

Communities in Schools champions the connection of needed community resources with schools to help
young people successfully learn, stay in school and prepare for life.  We offer assistance to students and
parents who may want help with moving towards a productive and successful life.  We believe that every
child needs and deserves:

  • A personal, one-on-one relationship with a caring adult;
  • A healthy start;
  • A safe place to learn and grow;
  • A marketable skill to use upon graduation
  • A chance to give back to peers and community.

The GA Literacy Connection Program provides a mechanism by which
Communities In Schools of
Marietta/Cobb County, Inc.
expands and/or enhances tutorial literacy services to grades K-5 at Brumby
Elementary School. One of the basic beliefs is that every child deserves a meaningful one-on-one
relationship with a caring adult. The tutors help the students with word attack skills, phonics, grammar and
necessary skills to become an accomplished reader. PASS (
Parents Assuring Student Success) training
is also available for parents. Please be on the lookout for class information and schedule.

Communities In Schools Of Marietta/Cobb County, Inc. is a private, non-profit organization that works with
