The Center is responsible for the operation of two temporary emergency shelters for abused and neglected children and youth, Open Gate (ages birth to 11) and Another Chance (ages 12-17). The Center also operates a transitional living program, Turning Point, for older adolescent males ages 17 – 21. Turning Point serves young adults who have been in the foster care or juvenile justice system for most of their lives. JLCM was instrumental in starting Open Gate in 1984 which was the cornerstone for the Center for Children and Young Adults.
Open Gate Open Gate exists to provide a refuge for children who are victims of abuse and neglect.
Another Chance Another Chance is the only shelter of its kind in the state of Georgia because of the diversity of its target population and the array of therapeutic services offered.
Turning Point Turning Point is designed to provide vocational and independent living skills for older adolescent males enabling them to become self-sufficient adults and in turn decrease their dependency on social services.
