Meet the Board
President: Carey Merritt, president@jlcm.org
In her 9th active year, Carey has held many leadership roles in the league. As Chair of the 13th annual
Mistletoe Market, Carey’s team raised the most revenue to date in Mistletoe Market history. Other Mistletoe
placements include Chair-Elect, Decorations Chair and Special Events. Carey has served as Treasurer
and the Chairman of the Development Council. Carey also served in the Membership Council as
Nominating and Placement Chair and Chair-Elect. She currently serves on The Cobb County Youth
Museum Board of Directors and on the March of Dimes Chef’s Auction committee. She has also served on
the Communities In Schools Board of Directors. Carey’s leadership has extended beyond league
sponsored activities. Carey served at her children’s school as Spring Auction Fundraiser Co-Chair, Room
Mom and a Team Leader for the first Mount Paran School Wide Community Service Day. She also helped
establish and lead a Girl Scout troop at the school.
Carey works as a Real Estate Consultant at Keller Williams Realty Signature Partners in Marietta. Carey
earned a B.S. in Business Management from Presbyterian College in Clinton, South Carolina. She is a
member of North Metro Church and lives in Marietta with her husband Jack and their children Margaret Ann
(11) and Walker (8). In her free time, Carey enjoys playing tennis, attending her children’s sporting events
and traveling.

Beginning her sixth year with the Junior League of Cobb-Marietta, Diane has held various positions of
leadership within the League. These positions have included Chair of League Publications, where Diane
helped to organize the concept of ‘Cookbook Home Parties’ to increase sales opportunities, and Chair of
Membership. Diane’s involvement in leadership activities also includes her service on the Board of
Communities in Schools of Marietta-Cobb County and her participation in the Leadership Cobb Class of
2009.
Diane holds a BBA in Accounting from The University of Georgia and a Masters of Accountancy from
Georgia State University. She has worked in staff positions for Arthur Andersen, LLP and financial
management positions for domestic and international public and private corporations. Currently, Diane is
the Owner and Manager of The Enchanted Frog, LLC, a retailer and wholesaler of baby basics. Diane
resides in Northwest Cobb with her husband Chuck. They are expecting their first child in October. In her
free time, Diane enjoys travel, cooking, and supporting her Georgia Bulldogs.
VP of Finance: Jennifer Johnson-Lynch, vpfinance@jlcm.org
Currently in her eighth active year in JLCM Jennifer has served on many
committees in Leadership roles including Public Affairs Chair-Elect and Chair,
Mistletoe Market Committee Liaison, Mistletoe Market Decorations Committee, and
Membership Development Advisor , League Treasurer and Safe Path Volunteer. She was the recipent of
2006-2007 McNeel-Gilbert Founders Award for League Service and also volunteers one day a week in the
JLCM office as support staff.
Jennifer and her family have been active members of Roswell Street Baptist Church and volunteer their
time working in the Preschool Department, Ladies' Ministry Team and MOPS. Jennifer and her husband
Keith have been married for thriteen years
and have a daughter named Berkeley who is one years old. Jennifer loves to travel, run and spend time
with her dogs. She has had her own business as a Wedding Consultant in Kennesaw for the past 9
years.
Treasurer: Allison Carter, treasurer@jlcm.org
Heading into her 4th active year, Allison has served as League Publications Chair, Fund Development
Chair, and now she is on the Board serving as Treasurer. Graduating from the University of Memphis with
a degree in International Business, she has been working with the Sherwin Williams Paint Company. In
her ten years with the company she currently is a City Manager helping manage 20 of the retail stores in
Northwest side of Atlanta. Allison resides in East Cobb area with her husband Chad and son Austin
(6months) and recently joined Mt. Bethel Methodist Church. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, cooking
and scrap booking.

In her 6th year with the Junior League of Cobb-Marietta, Hope continues to enjoy using her community
service experience to serve both the League and Marietta. She has proudly served on the Junior League’s
“Community Research Project & Development Committee” as member and then Chairperson, SafePath
Children's Advocacy Center Gala Committee, and also as Vice President of Community. Hope currently
serves as Vice President of Membership.
With a BA in History and Political Science from St. Andrews College, and a MA in Museum Studies and
Nonprofit Management from The George Washington University, Hope has worked in development for
several nonprofit organizations including the Smithsonian, the National Endowment for the Arts, Junior
Achievement of the Mid-South, Bethphage and Cranbrook Schools. Locally, Hope has served on the Cobb
County Peer Grant Evaluation Team, WellStar’s Advisory Committee, the First Presbyterian Church of
Marietta’s Preschool Board of Directors, and the March of Dimes Celebrity Auction Committee.
Hope enjoys living in Marietta with husband Andy, and two small children Andrew (7) and Sarah Elizabeth
(3). She attends First Presbyterian Church, and enjoys ALTA tennis and traveling with her family.

VP of Community: Tracy Rathbone, vpcommunity@jlcm.org
Tracy is currently serving her sixth year as an active member of the Junior League. Although a Cobb
County native, Tracy began her Junior League experience as a member of the Junior League of Nashville,
where she worked with community outreach and members-at-large. Tracy transferred to the JLCM in
2006, where she has served on the Community Research and Project Development Committee as both a
member and a chair.
With a B.S. in psychology from Georgia State University and a M.Ed. in Human Development Counseling
from Vanderbilt University, Tracy has extensive experience working in the not-for-profit sector, serving as
Executive Director of the Eating Disorders Coalition of Tennessee and as Director of Development for St.
Luke’s Community House in Nashville. Currently, Tracy works as a Senior Writer for Coxe Curry &
Associates, the largest and oldest non-profit consulting firm in Atlanta.
Tracy currently resides in East Cobb with her husband, Aaron and daughter, Lila. Tracy is passionate
about issues impacting women and children, volunteering with a variety of organizations throughout the
community. She enjoys music, reading, dancing, traveling, and spending time with her family.

Catherine has been an active member of the Junior League for 15 years. Her
placements have included President 2005-2006, V.P of Membership, Community
Advisory Board, The Youth Museum, Mistletoe Market, and Placement.
She currently serves on the Board of Directors of The Youth Museum, A.L Buruss PTA, and lil’ chickens of
marietta. She has served on the Board of Directors of First Presbyterian Church Preschool and Kids
Voting Cobb. She has also served on the Wellstar Foundation Annual Gifts Committee , as a United Way
Community Investment Volunteer and is a Spring 2005 graduate of the Diversity Leadership Academy of
Atlanta.
Catherine has a BA from Newcomb College, Tulane University and a Masters in
Business Administration from Kennesaw State University. She is currently
employed part-time by Publix Super Markets, Inc. She is a member of St. James
Episcopal Church and is married to Dean Castaldo. They have 2 sons Christopher
(7) and Matthew (5). In her free time she enjoys tennis and running.
Sustainer Director: Melissa Bottoms
Melissa Bottoms is the Firm Administrator for The Bottoms Group, LLC. She also manages office rental
property for the family.
Melissa has a Dental Hygiene degree from Clayton State University and began her career as a Registered
Dental Hygienist in an Atlanta dental office. She retired from this career when her first child was born. She
has worked in her current position for 17 years.
Among her placements were the Bargain Shop, the first annual Mistletoe Market, Membership
Development committee and Chair, Corresponding Secretary and President in 1996-1997. She has also
served on the Board of the Cobb County Youth Museum and has been a member of the Center for Family
Resources Oscar Night Gala Committee. Her hobbies are reading, gardening and learning to play bridge.
She is a member of Johnson Ferry Baptist Church in Marietta.
She and her husband, Gary, have been married for 33 years and have three grown children. David, who
works at the family business, and his wife Brittney, live in Marietta. Jonathan is an airline pilot for Atlantic
Southeast Airlines and Laura is a junior at Auburn University. Gary and Melissa reside in Marietta.

Cathy begins her seventh year as Office Manager of JLCM. A graduate of the University of Georgia, Cathy
worked as a paralegal for 10 years before she and her husband Rob started a family. Cathy has served as
Vice-President of the AL Burruss Elementary School PTSA and currently volunteers on several committees
at her children’s school.
Cathy and her husband, Rob, have been married for 23 years and have three children Robbie (18), Mary
(15), and Christopher (12). Their family resides in Marietta. Cathy is a member of Grace Community
Church, where she has taught Sunday school for a number of years. Cathy enjoys playing tennis, golf and
walking in the Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park.
